Seven killed in Assam

Guwahati, July 26 (PTI) Seven persons were killed, including three school girls, while two others went missing today in the river in separate cases in Assam.Three school girls were drowned and two others went missing in Mongoldoi river of Mongoldoi district when they were taking a dip on the occasion of Hindu 'Bom Bom' festival, officials said here.A large number of people had converged on the river bank for performing rituals.Rescue workers recovered the three bodies, they said adding that a search is being conducted to rescue the missing girls.In a separate incident in Jorhat district, three of a family, including a father and his two sons, were drowned when they were fishing in Teok river, officials said.In Bongaigaon district, a boy was killed by lightning near Bijni when he was participating in a 'Bom Bom' procession, they said.
