Guwahati, Apr 28 : Assam is experiencing a heat wave like condition with temperature steadily soaring due to scanty rainfall.
The highest temperature was recorded at 37.6 degree Celcius in Guwahati today which is very high for the month of April in this part of the country as the region usually experiences heavy to moderate rainfall during the month.
Regional Director of Met Department D K Handique said humidity was 42 per cent and there was little or no chance of rainfall during the next 48 hours.
Cumulative rainfall for April 2009 is 68 mm which is much lower than 153.6 mm of rainfall that took place during the same period last year, he added.
