Tiwa Sahitya Sabha session from today

 JAGIROAD, Dec 27 : The three-day eighth biennial general conference of Tiwa Mathonlai Tokhra (Tiwa Sahitya Sabha), the top linguistic, literary and cultural body of the Tiwas, will begin at ‘Lt Tabu Konwar Kshetra’, the main venue of the Sabha session, at Ajarbari Chariali in Morigaon district from tomorrow. The session will open with the inauguration of the main entrance of Tabu Konwar Kshetra by Junjunali Baruah, president of reception committee, at 11 am. Ali Askar, PD, DRDA, Morigaon will inaugurate the book fair-cum-exhibition of 3 pm.

Chief Minister, Tarun Gogoi will attend the concluding day’s open session as chief guest to be held from 1 pm on December 28.

When contacted, the general secretary TMT, Robert Lumphuid, said that over 1500 delegates from all over the country are expected to attend the sabha session. The reception committee has constituted a 200 member-strong volunteer force to maintain order and discipline during the session, Lumphuid added.

Choudhury hailed: Meanwhile, the central committee of Tiwa Mathonlai Tokhra, in its executive body meeting held today, hailed Dr Rita Choudhury on winning the Sahitya Academi Award for her novel Deu Langkhui, which is set in the backdrop of Tiwa oral history, a press release said.
