Bandh called by Adivasi students' body has partial impact in Assam

Kokrajhar: The 12-hour Assam Bandh called by All Assam Adivasi Students' Association today partially affected normal life in the Bodoland Territorial Administered Districts (BTAD).

The bandh, called to protest the attack on some adivasi youths at Runikhata in Chirang district on October 22 last, failed to evoke any response in any other part of the state.

Several bandh supporters were arrested in Bongaigaon district while they were forcibly trying to enforce the bandh. All school, colleges and educational institutions remained closed in the districts though vehicular traffic and trains plied normally. The affected districts are parts of Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa, Udalguri, Darrang and Bongaigaon.
