7 killed in road accidents in Assam

Tezpur/ Morigaon , Jun 9 : Seven persons, including six students were killed, and 10 others injured in two separate road accidents in Assam&aposs Sonitpur and Morigaon districts.

Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) youth wing leader Mukesh Hazarika was killed and his friend Prasad Bajaj seriously injured when their vehicle collided with a truck on National Highway 37 at Jagiroad in Morigaon district early this morning, the sources said.

In another incident, students of All Adivasi and Tea Tribes Students Association (AATSA) were on way from Dibrugarh to Lakhimpur for the association&aposs meet when their vehicle collided with a truck at Mission Chariali near Tezpur late last night, official sources said.

While four of them died on the spot, two others succumbed at different hospitals here.

The deceased were identified as AATSA Dibrugarh district unit assistant secretary Ajit Munda, Dikom unit members Narayan Das, Roju Baidya, Tamu Patar and its Tezpur unit member Binondar Pator.

Eight of the injured students were identified as Prakash Kurmi, Dibyajyoti Kurmi, Kamal Kurmi, Niranjan Rajwar, Biru Bhumi, Kisan Munda, Pabitra Das and Paban Kurmi, the sources added.
